L'artiste, Dimitri Omersa (1927-1985)
- L’histoire raconte que le premier cochon en cuir est apparu presque par accident lorsque « Old Bill », qui travaillait à la fabrication de bagages à main pour le grand magasin Liberty de Londres, s’est demandé ce qui pouvait être fait avec les restes de cuir. Il a eu l’idée d’un repose-pieds en forme de cochon qu’il a proposé à Liberty pour la revente.
- Dimitri Omersa et sa femme Inge sont arrivés en Angleterre en 1955 et se sont installés à Lavender Croft, un sanctuaire pour réfugiés. Dimitri Omersa, Yougoslave de naissance, avait été officier de marine et prisonnier politique emprisonné par Tito pendant 10 ans après la Seconde Guerre mondiale.
- Dimitri Omersa a trouvé du travail dans le commerce du cuir et, alors qu’il représentait une petite entreprise de cuir à Hitchin, a rencontré « Old Bill » chez Liberty. 'Old Bill' devait prendre sa retraite et un accord a été conclu pour que Dimitri Omersa reprenne l’entreprise et continue à fournir des porcs à Liberty. Le nom de marque Omersa a été créé à ce stade. L’entreprise a été délocalisée à Hitchin en 1958 et peu de temps après, Dimitri Omersa a commencé à créer d’autres animaux.

- Cet objet a été acheté par Sébastien Delcampe lors de l'émission Affaire Conclue diffusée le 29 mars sur France 2. Il a été apporté par Laurent de Sucy en Brie (94) qui l'avait chiné avec sa compagne dans une association.
