Avers: buste à gauche de Malherbe. Inscription: /à Malherbe né à Caen en 1555 /. / La ville de Caen en 1815 /. Signature sous le buste: Gatteaux.

Revers: couronne de laurier. Au centre une lyre. Inscription: / Enfin Malherbe vint /.

On note: quelques coups sur la tranche. Devait comporter une bélière vissée, en raison d'un petit percement sur la tranche.
