SOUTH AUSTRALIA 1855 TO 1900 VERY FINE EARLY COLLECTION. An intriguing collection of used stamps in better than normal condition, the remains of a specialized olde tyme collection still on its original linen- hinged album pages. Appears untidy but even a cursory inspection reveals that most of these stamps are in very fine condition with most imperfs having 4 margins. There are attractive multiples, duplication with the different shades and all manner of other interesting items. Begins with the 1855 1d rose- carmine imperf SG 2 (6, a single, pair & strip of 3), 1856-58 imperf issue includes the 2d reds (SG 7-9) x19 chiefly 4- margined examples, 6d slate blue SG 10 with 4 margins and a lovely cds postmark, 1s orange SG 12; the 1860-69 Second Rouletted issue is very well represented with all values from 1d greens (5, incl 1d + 9d on piece combination, a choice cds example, etc) through to 1s values (15, incl strip of 3, 6d + 1s combo on piece, even a so-called ochre-yellow shade from the "Colombo" wreck with the correct datestamp, etc) & 2s rose- carmine, there are so many interesting things here including the 10d on 9d yellow setting of the six different surcharge types, etc; 1868-79 perf 11½-12½ comprehensive with all values & many additional shades; 1870-71 perf 10 issue all values and many additional shades incl the 3d on 4d with red overprint SG 91; 1870-73 mixed perfs issue with all values to 10d on 9d with additional shades; 1876-1900 various perfs with values to 2s (strip 3, strip 5, two blocks 4) including some impressive very wide & very narrow misperforated stamps PLUS MORE. An unusual collection which clearly needs redisplaying but much here for the collector of above- average stamps (200+ stamps) For more images, please visit https://www.sandafayre.com/itemdetails.aspx?s=638948
