1914 Homeward Bound set of five. This was the fourth and final issue in a four-year program celebrating the centenary of the Australasian Antarctic Expedition (AAE). After the late return of Mawson to base camp, following the tragic deaths of Ninnis and Mertz, Mawon and the small party who remained undertook another winter of scientific work until the Aurora returned in the spring of 1914. On the return to Adelaide in February 2014 the expedition were given a hero's welcome. Mawson was knighted for his leaddership and for the groundwork done for Australian activities in the Antarctic • MNH (5).
