THE POSTMASTER OF WOODFORD GREEN - A PERSONAL TREASURE IN STAMPS AND CARDS A remarkable 1880's to early 1920's assembly put together by the Postmaster of Woodford Green in Essex, with much of Boer War and World War One interest, this all being stuck down and presented in an old Edwardian "Sunny Memories" interleaved photo album. Includes (as we see it) various GB and commonwealth postal stationary cards (used or unused) incl South African Cols, New Zealand, Ceylon, Australian States etc, a page of "Buy War Bonds" slogans/on pieces incl 1918 "Date of the Armistice" label on cover front, a page of Great Britain "Govt. Parcels" used Officials, with some on Parcels Post receipts, incl 1d x8, 1½d x4, 2d x10, 6d x16 (one is with "stop to left" variety), 9d x5, and 1s x5, misc Boer War items incl several cover fronts, slogans or stamps on piece with cachets/censor marks etc, 1900 (24 Feb) Boer War letter from Ladysmith Camp, 1900 (21 Jul) printed "Field Force, South Africa" partial letter, WW1 French bank receipt found on the Somme, 1911 (9 Sep) First Aerial Post card, many GB and USA postal stationery cut-outs, 1893 "Notice from Postmaster-General" to Woodford Wells sub-Post Office, 1893 first money order issued at Woodford Wells, 1902 2d reg env (size H2) to Woodford Green uprated with 8 stamps, 1900 stampless cover from the wreck of the "Mexican" which foundered off the Cape, a few "G.E.R." Newspaper stamps, a range of foreign postal stationery cards incl France, Italy, Romania, Switzerland, USA, Hungary, Spain, Japan etc, a few "First Day of Issue" items, and much more. A wonderful and unique display from a Postmasters life story, the Official stamps alone cat over £4,000.
