1938 SEAPLANE FLIGHT WITH YUGOSLAV POSTAGE: Registered letter: Zagreb - Buenos Aires, Argentina Postage 68 DIN is correct as follows: 4 d for abroad letter up to 20 gr. (Tariff in force 1.8.1936 until the war), 4 d. for an international recommendation (Tariff valid from 1.12.1931 to 31.03.1940), 60 dinars. for the second airmail weight rate of 6-10 gr. for Argentina (2x 30 din, valid from 15.05.1935 to 30.04.1938). Departure cancels on the front and back: Zagreb 31.01.Jesenice-Belgrade- train 31.01. Zemun 5 airport 01.02., Berlin 02.02., Buenos Aires landed 06.02.1938. The letter flight to South America with Deutsche Lufthansa: Departure: Frankfurt a/M. 02/03/1938 (04:56 am), Bathurst (Gambia), departure 02/04 at 12:42 p.m., for Natal, Brazil, arrival 02/05. at 05.14 hours, then Rio de Janeiro 02.05.arrival at 19.05 hours, and finally Buenos Aires 02.06. arrival 8:14 p.m. Between Bathurst and Natal for crossing the Atlantic SEEPLANE "Mistral" of type "Dornier Do-Wal (10 tons), flight SIGN"D-AKYM" is used. Letter undelivered in Buenos Aires, marked 'INCONNU' (fr. unknown) over the airmail label on the front which was crossed out at the same time as such undeliverable letters were not returned by plane but by ship. This can be seen on the back, where there is a cancel of Ljubljana in red from the month of May. A typical cancel for mail that arrived by ship via Italy, in this case by ship to Genoa. After, the letter was sent first to Zagreb by train (cancel 06.05.), from where it was sent to Belgrade by postal car. The Zagreb Post believed that the sender had gone to Belgrade (arrival Belgrade 07.05.). It was not found there either, so the letter was returned to Zagreb (cancel 12.07.) and sent again to Belgrade (cancel 13.07.1938). It should be mentioned that during that chase it was opened in Zagreb in order to establish the current location of the sender. That's why it has a sticker with an explanation.
